Here are the top stories today in Bedford:
- Following a weekend of summer-like weather, Monday was cooler with highs in the 70s for the Bedford Memorial Day parade. On the coast, it was cooler with temperatures in the 60s. Tuesday will be another comfortable day with temperatures in the 70s inland, and it will be cooler on the coast with a sea breeze. Warm summer-like days return Wednesday and Thursday with a high of 90 possible on Thursday, says WMUR meteorologist Matt Hoenig. (WMUR)
- A man was driving the wrong way on Interstate 293 early Sunday morning with children in the car. Drivers called the police at 12:40 a.m. to report a silver car driving north in the southbound lane near Exit 6 (Amoskeag Street). The driver, 26-year-old Sulma Canales Cabrera of Nashua, was stopped by police at Exit 5 (Granite Street) after making a U-turn and heading toward Bedford. Cabrera was charged with drunk driving and police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them. (Seacoast Current)
- Memorial Elementary School students participated in the annual Memorial Day walk to the cemetery "to place flags to honor those men and women that died while serving in the military" on Friday. While upper-grade students participated in the annual walk, students in the lower grades had a parade marching down the empty hallways with instruments! See photos here: (Memorial Elementary School via Facebook)
- The Educational Farm at Joppa Hill remembered and honored veterans with a Memorial Day post on its website. One reader asked if the farm was open on Memorial Day. If you are also wondering, the EFJH said, "Yes! The farm is open every single day from dawn to dusk." (The Educational Farm at Joppa Hill via Facebook)
