  1. A shoutout to Sydney Buffett, a semifinalist in the prestigious 2023 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program! The Bedford High School senior is one of six New Hampshire students selected for the elite Scholars Program. Buffett is one of 628 seniors chosen from 5,000 candidates nationwide. The Presidential Scholars Program recognizes students for outstanding achievements in school academics, the arts, leadership, school and community involvement, and career and technical fields.   2. Robert Singer, of the Singer Family of Manchester, was awarded the 2023 Davison Award for Philanthropy by the Board of the Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation. The annual award recognizes "extraordinary and generous philanthropist(s)." Dr. Greg Baxter, President and CEO of Elliot Health System, praised Robert and his family for making the greater Manchester area "a better place to live" and for changing the lives "of patients we care for each day."   3. Have you watched an alpaca get sheared? "Gary the alpaca and his brothers" will be sheared at the Educational Farm at Joppa Hill on May 29. It's a big event for alpacas—they are sheared once a year! Amazingly, the fur can produce between 5-10 pounds of natural fiber (also called fleece or wool).   4. The Craftworkers’ Guild Spring Craft Shop is open! The Spring Craft Shop opened on May 4 and runs through Saturday, May 13.
