MANCHESTER, NH — Thousands of people came to downtown Manchester Thursday for what is dubbed as the “world’s largest taco tour” and an event put on by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
A portion of Elm Street was closed to vehicles so that the participants could safely walk the street visiting nearly 100 vendors spanning several blocks.
The event had instant crowds at 4 p.m. for the four-hour event, and the purchase of $3 tacos began. Many seasoned event participants formed teams to hit as many vendors as possible.

A few sprinkles of rain didn’t stop the crowds which were estimated to be 15,000 to 20,000 people. Lines grew long but many people on social media complimented organizers on how fast the lines moved. Some restaurants participating reported selling more than 5,000 tacos and were very pleased with the attendance. Tacos, ranging from gluten-free, vegan, and traditional, offered something for everyone attending.
Attendees had the opportunity to vote for the best taco which will award $1,000 to the restaurant and the coveted taco tour trophy. The winner at this time has not been announced but should be revealed over the weekend.
