Here are the top stories today in Bedford:

1. The Best Holiday Lights in America may be in Bedford. Patch is looking for the best holiday lights in America, and they may be in Bedford, New Hampshire. Submit a photo of your creative light display and Patch will show off your best North Pole or other holiday-inspired creation on Patch before Christmas. Submit your pictures any time until Dec. 14. On Dec. 15, Patch editors will select the national finalists. Finalists' entries will be displayed on Patch's Facebook page on Thursday-Sunday, Dec. 16-19 where viewers can like and comment on the displays. A winner will be announced Monday, Dec. 20. 2. Everyone is excited to find online-only discounts and special deals today. On Cyber Monday last year, there were more than $2 billion in online sales. There are websites like cybermonday2014.com that aggregates online shopping deals and coupon codes, and one of my favorite places to look for special discounts is the Made in New Hampshire website, NHMade.com, which features unique products made by New Hampshire artisans and supports local businesses. 3. Bedford's Jeff Rapsis plays music to accompany silent films, and has turned his performances into a business. He performs music on a synthesizer to accompany silent pictures, often on the fly, helping bring audiences into the moment. The next film and performance will be at the Red River Theatre in Concord where Rapsis will be adding music to a silent film called “Straight is the Way,” a film about a fictional town called 'Hampton Center, N.H.' where big-city crooks hide out from the law. The silent film premiered in 1921 and has not been seen since then. The screenplay was written by two-time Oscar winner Frances Marion. Rapsis said the film shows the time before the Norman Rockwell image of New Hampshire, where townspeople are gossiping and comical constables with kids hanging out at the local swimming hole.
