Hurricane Sandy was brewing in the Caribbean, and as the super storm made its way up the Atlantic coast, picking up steam, residents in the northeast began to take notice.
Sandy came ashore in New Jersey, decimating parts of the Garden State and New York, but her fury was felt hundreds of miles north, into New Hampshire, where Bedford did not escape the storm's wrath.
As trees fell and transformers exploded throughout town thousands were left powerless and at least one Bedford family had to be rescued after being trapped inside their home during the peak of the storm.
Power restoration and cleanup took days, but Bedford and neighboring communities recovered quickly compared to New York, New Jersey and other states that received the brunt of the storm's impact.
