Town Manager Jessie Levine told the Council, at its last meeting on Jan. 23, that the public hearing is required pursuant to Article 8-2 of the Bedford Town Charter.

She also explained that in order to have the petition article on the municipal warrant, and to meet the requirement that the public hearing be held within 30 days of the town receiving the requisite signatures, the Council had to schedule the hearing on a non-regularly-scheduled meeting night.

Those seeking additional information may contact the Bedford Town Manager's office at 472-5242.

Bedford Patch will have more information and background on this story later this week.
