Tractor-Trailer Hits Hydrant Causing The Road To Partially Collapse
Wilson Street in Manchester was closed as a truck was pulled from the hole it created. Watch Duval's Towing successfully remove the vehicle.
MANCHESTER, NH — On Wednesday, a tractor-trailer making a delivery at Hayward and Wilson Street in Manchester struck a fire hydrant while backing up.
Water started gushing from the hydrant, and workers from Manchester Water Works worked to shut down the water flow due to some difficulties with a valve; the time it took was extended. As the water flowed, it washed the gravel from below the asphalt, and the truck fell into the hole. According to a source at the scene, the truck was loaded with approximately 22,000 pounds of freight.
Duval’s Towing and Recovery was called to the scene and worked to bring the truck and trailer to life so that workers could fill the hole with gravel. After working at the scene for several hours, the truck was able to be driven from the scene.
