Here are the top stories today in Bedford:

  1. Trader Joe's is recalling falafel for possible rocks, and broccoli soup for possible insects. The recalls come one week after Trader Joe's announced there may be rocks in Trader Joe's cookies. The recent recall is for Trader Joe's precooked frozen Falafel (SKU number 93935) as the product may contain rocks, and a separate recall was issued for Trader Joe's Unexpected Broccoli Cheddar Soup (SKU# 68470) with use-by dates of July 18-Sept. 15, 2023, as the broccoli in the soup "may contain insects." Insects would definitely be "unexpected." Find out more about the recalls here: (NPR)
  2. Do you love to sing? The Manchester Choral Society invites all singers to Open Sing and Auditions for its 63rd season on Sept. 11, from 6-9 p.m. at Bethany Covenant Church, 1 Covenant Way, in Bedford. All interested singers are invited. Bring a dish to share for the potluck dinner. Find out more here: (Manchester Ink Link)
  3. Strong winds from Saturday's storm brought down trees and power lines in neighboring Goffstown. Addison Road in Goffstown "was closed between Shirley Hill Road and Kennedy Hill Road after a tree came down around 2:45 p.m." knocking down power lines. Saturday's storms brought damaging winds and downpours that prompted severe weather advisories for Bedford over the weekend. (WMUR Manchester)
  4. Catch a glimpse of the full Sturgeon Moon Supermoon Tuesday. The moon will be at its brightest at 2:32 p.m. Eastern Time. Look to the southeast Tuesday night to see the first full moon and supermoon of August. (The Almanac newsletter)
