Two Vehicles Collide On Candia Rd, Pushing A Pickup Into A Building
Manchester Fire Building Collapse Unit stabilized the building so it could be reoccupied and the vehicle removed. No injuries were reported.
MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester firefighters temporarily repaired a building struck by a pickup truck on Saturday.
Fire, police, and AMR ambulance were dispatched to the report of a vehicle striking a two-story residential structure at 408 Candia Road at about 9:45 a.m.
The first arriving personnel reported damage to the corner of the two-level porch, which was unstable due to the damage. The Manchester Fire Building Collapse Unit was requested to the scene.

AMR medics evaluated the occupants of the two vehicles involved as firefighters evacuated any people inside the structure.
After initial investigation, it was determined that the impact altered the supporting posts that supported the second floor and roof structure. According to Battalion Chief Kenneth Proulx, the first-floor deck had been moved approximately one foot, causing the posts to lean and leaving the porches unstable.

Firefighters jacked the first-floor deck up with hydraulic spreaders and adjusted the support at the footing. Three 4 X 4 posts were used to secure and stabilize the structure temporarily until it could be repaired.
After the building was stabilized, firefighters from Rescue 1 used a winch to pull the pickup away from it.
Initial information determined that a small SUV was traveling South on Holt Avenue, approaching a stop sign, and crashed into a pickup truck traveling West on Candia Road. The pickup truck left the roadway and struck a tree and the corner of the structure.
The repairs made are temporary but allowed the occupants to reoccupy the structure.
Manchester Police are handling the investigation of the accident.
