Here are the top stories today in Bedford:
- New Hampshire pediatricians said that parents are enthusiastic about the availability of COVID-19 vaccines to help protect 5-to-11-year-old children. Preparations are underway to provide vaccines to protect children once the shot receives the green light from the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In a briefing, Wednesday, Dr. Keith Loud, chair of Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth, said that he hopes that people will listen to the medical community's advice. (WMUR)
- They've got the spirit — over 700 of them. The New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) is hosting a Distiller’s Showcase of Premium Spirits featuring more than 700 different kinds of liquor on Thursday, Nov. 4 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Manchester. The Distiller's Showcase is one of several events planned for the NHLC’s third annual Distiller’s Week. All proceeds will benefit the New Hampshire Food Bank. You can read more about the week-long events happening here: (Manchester Ink Link)
- If you fly Southwest Airlines from the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, you may want to book early as there may be fewer flights to travel to your destination. Southwest Airlines announced that they are cutting flight schedules for the second time since August to smooth operations as they struggle to hire workers and ease customer anger over widespread delays. The airline said that travel dipped in the third quarter due to a surge in delta variant coronavirus cases, reducing revenue in that period "by $300 million." Southwest officials said they are encouraged by the increases in leisure and business travel, revenue, and bookings —especially over the coming winter holidays. (The Union Leader)
