5 Things: 12-12-12 Concert to Benefit Sandy Victims Tonight

Find out who's performing in the epic concert, plus some local goodwill right at your fingertips.

1. 12-12-12 Concert to Benedit Sandy victims and relief. Patch is participating in tonight's epic concert that includes an all-star lineup featuring Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Chris Martin, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The Who and Paul McCartney, with other artists to be announced. According to the 12-12-12 concert’s website:

“Starting at 7:30 p.m. EST, on December 12, “12-12-12,” The Concert for Sandy Relief, will be broadcast live from Madison Square Garden via a global network of US and International television stations, Clear Channel radio stations and leading web sites. Check the listings on the website to see where you can watch locally.”

2. Last chance to send a letter to Santa! Saturday, Dec. 15 is the last day to drop Santa a line and send him good cheer and tell him how good you have been this past year! The Parks & Recreation Department has made arrangements with the Post Office and your letter will be sent directly to the NORTH POLE from a special mailbox in the lobby of the Town Office Building at 24 N. Amherst Road.

3. Holiday Coat Drive. Riddle Brook School on New Boston Road is sponsoring a coat drive. Items collected will be donated to local shelters. The drive runs through Friday, Dec. 14. Items to be collected include: clean hats, mittens, gloves, scarves and coats for men, women, children and infants.  Boxes are located in the RBS library hallway. 5. The weatherman says ... Temperatures are expected to remain consistent today as Weather.com projects a forecasted high of 43 degrees, similar to the high temperatures of  45 and 43 on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. In addition, the forecast calls for a mix of sunshine and clouds with a 0-percent chance of rain.
