Winnacunnet Beats Bedford in State Finale
Bulldogs keep it close, but Warriors deliver late knockout blow.
HAMPTON – In the first contest of the Division II high school football season, on Sept. 7, Winnacunnet High School traveled to Bedford and earned a 13-6 victory over the hosts.
Today, the Warriors and Bulldogs played again, this time for the D-II championship, and much like the first time the two 9-1 teams met, Winnacunnet once again proved victorious.
Though Bedford pulled within one point late in the third quarter, a staunch WHS defense proved impenetrable in the fourth quarter and the Warriors added a touchdown with 1:15 remaining in the contest to secure a 21-13 victory.
