4-year-old Boy Shot By 9MM Handgun In Weare Apartment Building

Firefighters, cops were sent to North Stark Highway on Thursday for a boy who was shot. The child was transported to Concord Hospital.

WEARE, NH — Weare police, and fire were dispatched to an apartment building on North Stark Highway for a report of a 4-year-old with a gunshot wound to the hand on Thursday.

A Weare ambulance transported the child to the Concord Hospital. Weare police say that the 9 mm bullet went through the hand of the child and lodged into a window casing.

Several Weare police officers were outside the resident speaking to occupants of the multiple-unit apartment building. Investigators could be seen entering and exiting the right side of the building and removing items from the building.

A Weare officer brought a hammer into the building, and a short time exited with a piece of wood that appeared to be the window casing that the bullet lodged into.

At about 9:30 a.m. a person identified as a member of the county attorney’s office arrived at the scene and was escorted into the building by police.

People gathered outside the house appear to be relatives of the child, but sources say the mother of the child accompanied the child to the hospital in the ambulance.

Although they were not at the scene, a police source said DCYF has been notified.

All law enforcement left the scene of the incident at about 10 a.m.
