ATV Rollover Accident In Weare Leaves Man With A Head Injury

Conservation officers say speed, alcohol appear to be factors in the Oak Ridge Road accident that injured Timothy Hayes of Weare Friday.

WEARE, NH — Weare Police, fire, EMS, and a New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officer responded to a report of an ATV rollover on Oak Ridge Road Friday.

When responders arrived at 8 p.m., they found the operator with injuries to his head initially unconscious and was transported to Concord Hospital by ambulance. Timothy Hayes, 40, of Weare was identified as the injured operator and was suffering from a head injury and laceration, according to Conservation Officer Shawn MacFadzen.

Investigation showed that Hayes was trying to make a turn on the ATV and rolled over on Oak Ridge Road, which is not open to OHRV use. MacFadzen said speed and alcohol were believed to be the main contributing factors to the crash. The Weare Police Department is handling the driving while intoxicated investigation.
