Crimson Tide Places 5th; Salem Girls 3rd At George Bossi Holiday Tourney: New Hampshire Wrestling Roundup (patch.com) — Concord High’s wrestling team grabbed fifth place overall at the massive George Bossi Holiday Tournament in Lowell, highlighted by junior Biswar Darji earning the Mark Donovan Award for most pins in the least time. Several Concord boys, including Max Chung, Isaiah Puckett, and Wayne Gutierrez-Sakakeeny, placed in their weight classes, while Concord’s girls tied for 23rd and Madison Beauregard captured a title at 185 pounds.

Killer Found Dead In Storage Space Man Extricated From Plane After Crash (patch.com) — Several of last week’s most-read New Hampshire stories directly involved Concord, including a possible arson investigation at the Royal Gardens apartments and a South Main Street DUI arrest highlighted in the Concord police log. Matthew Grant Mead (concordmonitor.com) — Concord is mourning the loss of longtime resident Matthew Grant Mead, a 57-year-old author and digital creator who passed away in the city on December 11 after a long illness. Born in Concord and deeply connected to local family and friends, he was known for his creative work and generosity, including a final act of organ donation. A celebration of life is planned for spring.
   

5. Lawmakers Push Campus Carry As Gun Free Zones Face New Scrutiny (concealednation.org) — Lawmakers meeting in Concord are pushing House Bill 1793, which would stop New Hampshire’s public colleges from banning firearms on campus, arguing gun-free zones leave students defenseless. University officials warn the change could raise costs, increase liability, and make some students and faculty feel less safe. The bill will be taken up in the next legislative session.
