Beloved Concord Dad 'Is The Rock Of Our Family'

CONCORD, NH— Father's Day is the perfect time to give a big thanks to all the dads who put smiles on our faces. Concord, meet Chris Jelley.

If you know a dad who sends sweet, silly or thoughtful texts your way, you’re pretty lucky. Texts from Dad have a way of putting a smile on our faces — and this Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the fathers behind the phones!

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to shine a light on awesome dads and the funny, insightful things they say. This submission comes from Madysen Audet who nominated Chris Jelley of Concord.

What makes your dad extra special?

First of all, this man is a father of six kids. To be a father of one child, is sometimes even too difficult for fathers — never mind six. This man took my brother and I in like we were his own children. Without him, there wouldn’t be an us. He is the rock of our family, constantly going out of his way to make us happy and make sure we have all that we need. My dad is has four biological children and then my brother and I are his stepchildren, but there has never been one day where we have felt like we were any less. My dad puts the step- in stepdad because he’s truly stepped up in more ways than he ever needed to. My dad owns his own company, Chris Jelley Autoworks, in Concord, and if you ask anyone around town he is the best guy to go to! My dad gets up goes to work, never complains, comes home and immediately starts working on the home that he has built. He works every weekend on the house that he has been building, day and night, rain or shine — you will never find him inside relaxing or taking a moment for himself. My dad's been at all sporting events, recitals, graduations, college move-in days — anything he can be at, he is there. He is not only the best dad, but the best grandpa to his seven grandchildren, always being at their baseball games, birthday parties, spending Christmas with them and anything. My dad is always there for his kids, no matter what, but he’s also always there for his friends and family. This world needs more Chris Jelleys, because I swear they don’t make them like that anymore. This guy is constantly putting everyone else before him, his own needs, his own health, his own wants and desires just to make sure we always have what we need and the things that we want. Without him, this family could not be, he is the rock that holds us all together, and the reason our family is so amazing! I’ve never met a more selfless person, who is not only the best dad, but the best stepdad and grandpa ever. We can’t begin to thank him for all he’s done for us — the laughs and memories will live on forever. My dad has been there for us through everything, including the loss of my own father. My dad truly deserves the world and more. Not everyone is lucky to say they have such an amazing step-parent but I must’ve lucked out because I wouldn’t want anyone else to be my dad. We love, and appreciate him more than we say, and more than he’ll ever know!

Why do you feel your dad deserves the spotlight?

My dad owns his own business, he goes to work every single day without a complaint, and comes home to finish building the home he’s been building for the last couple years. Whether he’s working in his shop on cars, or outside building a patio or gazebo, you’ll never find him sitting down and relaxing taking time for himself. My dad shows up — he’ doesn’t make excuses or isn’t ever present, he’s at every doctors appointment, soccer game, hockey game, graduation, birthday party, anything — you name it. He will always put aside his work to make time for his family and to show up and be there when it’s most important for us. He not only has four biological children of his own, but he has two stepchildren that he’s never ever made feel any less. My dad's helped pay for school, sports, anything — he’s never made me feel like blood mattered. Without him, I would not be here today and certainly wouldn’t have the amazing life I live today. He is so selfless and deserving of this because he also never asks for anything. He doesn’t ask us to post these things or buy him anything. He tells us to focus on us and the life we want to build. He’s constantly telling us to reach for the stars and achieve our dreams and he’s the one who makes it possible. Us six kids would not be where we are, living in our own houses with our owns dogs and kids if it weren’t for the life he built for us. From big Christmases to family vacations in North Conway, our life was always and adventure. He’s our rock, and on our hardest days he’s what drives us to always keep going. Without his constant love and support there wouldn’t be six children living the lives they live right now.
