Brenna For Concord

The single most important pressing issue facing the community is _______ and this is what I intend to do about it

The need for more housing. Home prices and rents are high, adding strain to so many of the residents of Ward 6. I want to work on the council to continually expand our tax base, support the necessary maintenance of our infrastructure, and eliminate any unnecessary barriers to housing developments.

List three other things you would like to work on if elected or re-elected

1. Waste Water Treatment Plant: I want to grow our tax base both in terms of adding new businesses, new housing, new residents. If and when we do that, we need to make sure our wastewater infrastructure can handle it, otherwise it could create an environmental problem.

2. Rundlett Middle School: The middle school project has certainly been talked about for a long time, most of it predating my time in Concord. But has anything actually been accomplished besides talk? Let’s see some action so our kids can learn and grow.

3. Library: The library benefits a wide range of people, from avid readers, kids, lower income individuals. I support public libraries as an investment that pays dividends to many of our residents.

Name a couple of accomplishments in the past that show you can handle this position

As part of a small non-profit team, I am integral to planning and executing conferences for 250+ people every year. I write and prep our agendas, lead our fundraising solicitation, arrange planning calls to discuss content, meet and lead small group discussions with elected women from across the country to incorporate their feedback into our program, and coordinate with fellow staff members on all the logistics that it takes to make a successful event. I feel that each event is a true accomplishment, bridging divides across party lines, and connecting women who face similar challenges in leadership roles. I also think that my skillset is uniquely an asset to the role as a city councilor because I have over fifteen years of experience collaborating on policy.

Share any other thoughts or ideas you would like voters to know about yourself

I am a social person and I value connection with my neighbors. If elected, I want to be accessible, and invite the residents or Ward 6 to reach out to me with their thoughts and concerns so that I can better represent them.

Aside from all the big picture issues, I've been really excited talking to my neighbors about the little things. I know we're all looking forward to the pilot program for upgraded trash barrels as anyone in Ward 6 knows how windy it can get and how some trash days scatter debris. The residents I talk with want a few more street lights, well maintained sidewalks, and a feeling of safety on their streets. We all want happy, healthy lives for ourselves and our children, and I think Concord is a great place to make that happen. We need to stay consistent on maintenance projects across the board.
