CONCORD, NH — The Powerball jackpot for Saturday has reached historic proportions, according to the New Hampshire Lottery.

The $1.5 billion jackpot is expected to be the 5th highest jackpot in Powerball history and the 7th largest jackpot in history, Charlie McIntyre, the executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery, said on Thursday.

“Oh, what fun it would be to win $1.5 billion just before Christmas and the New Year,” he said. “What a wonderful early present that would be! With the holiday season in full swing, juggling parties, presents, and vacations can be tough, but buying a $2 Powerball ticket is easy. Just visit NH iLottery online or visit your local retailer — maybe it’s a gas station, convenience store, or grocery store, there’s plenty of options. And, while there’s nothing that generates excitement like big jackpots this time of year, it’s important to remember it only takes one ticket to win.”

The highest jackpot in history was a $2.04 billion Powerball prize in November 2022. That prize is also the highest lottery prize ever. The last time anyone won Powerball was in early September when players in Missouri and Texas won the second-highest Powerball and lottery prize in history.

Powerball drawings are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Tickets can be purchased at more than 1,200 retailers and online at NHLottery.com.
