Capital City Firm To Handle Entranceway Rebuild

CH+R is pleased to announce that Cobb Hill Construction has been awarded the Kennedy Building entranceway renovations.

Concord Housing + Redevelopment is pleased to announce that Cobb Hill Construction has been awarded the Kennedy Building Main Street and Thompson Street Entrance Renovations contract, valued at $188,000.

The project calls for the 40 South Main Street entranceway to be completed first. The front entry will be expanded and power door openers installed allowing for ease of use by our tenants and for more manageable wheelchair access. The building’s exterior will undergo a facelift as well. The yellow brick in the recessed alcove above the entry doors will be removed and replaced with granite, as reflected in the original 1964 design plans. A new sidewalk with curved railings, post lights, stamped concrete work, and landscaping will round out the first phase of renovations.

At the Thompson Street entrance, the existing storefront style doors and windows will be removed and a secure entrance will be relocated inside the lobby. The power-assist doors, ramps and railings will be restructured eliminating the need for wheelchairs to negotiate two tight turns to access the building. Additional landscaping will complete the new look.
