Capital Region Firefighters Extinguish 2-Alarm Fatal House Fire In Boscawen: Video

Firefighters spent several hours on Gage Street Monday night extinguishing a house fire. One man died after being taken out of the building.

BOSCAWEN, NH — Firefighters from around the capital region worked to extinguish a building fire on Gage Street in Boscawen that took the life of a man on Monday night.

Around 9:45 a.m., Capital Region Fire Dispatch began receiving calls about a fire on Gage Street near Boyce Lane not far from Route 3. Firefighters from Franklin, Salisbury, Webster, and Concord Tower 1, as well as the Penacook Rescue team, were initially called to the scene.

Dispatch reported, before firefighters arrived, that there might be someone trapped on the second floor.

“On scene,” reported an EMT from the Penacook ambulance. “Heavy fire. We have occupants outside. Checking.”

Firefighters tapped a hydrant right in front of the house and began dousing the building.

A second alarm was struck a few minutes later, bringing in firefighters from Bow and Canterbury as well as EMTs from Chichester.

News 603 posted three videos on Facebook.

The fire commander said it appeared everyone was out of the building, but they would be checking. He called the fire a defensive operation.

Later, another ambulance was requested after Concord firefighters pulled a man out of the building who was trapped on the second floor. Loudon then sent EMTs.

Firefighters reported limited visibility while fighting the fire and problems with the second-story floors.

Liberty and Unitil utilities, along with the state fire marshal, were requested to the scene just past 10 p.m.

Firefighters exited the building after completing a sweep inside, stating everyone was out around 10:15 p.m.

Around 10:30 p.m., the American Red Cross was requested to the scene.
