Concord Dad, Son Rekindle Relationship After Years: 'He Has My Back'

CONCORD, NH— Father's Day is the perfect time to give a big thanks to all the dads who put smiles on our faces. Concord, meet Jeff.

If you know a dad who sends sweet, silly or thoughtful texts your way, you’re pretty lucky. Texts from Dad have a way of putting a smile on our faces — and this Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the fathers behind the phones!

What makes your dad extra special?

As a Gen-Xer coming from a broken home, I missed growing up with my father in my life but always knew he was there for me if I ever needed him. My uncle passed away and this sadness brought some happiness back when I saw my father for the first time in close to 18 years.

Since that day we have rekindled a small relationship. I have been out of work for the last couple years with undiagnosed medical issues, so it's safe to assume it was very rough and stressful on a family of 6 on just my wife's income. My father stepped up and picked up all the slack I could ever ask for. Whether it was planned issues or at the drop of a hat, this man was there for me and my family.

My dad owns a construction business. He busts his bum daily doing a trade most young men can't hack or last in and still grinds away. Recently I have tried to work part-time to help him and repay my debt or show my appreciation. His hand is never out and with my health issues, I'm not promised a daily routine but he still says come on in.

I could go on for a while about what my father has done for me throughout my life. He is always on his children's side or has their backs. I can't thank him enough for always being there when I needed him and can't wait to someday make him as proud of me as I am of him. I love you, Dad, and hope you get to keep those feet up for Father's Day.

Why do you feel your dad deserves the spotlight?

He's always there. It doesn't matter if it's at the drop of a hat, he shows up.
