Concord Hospital Trust Awarded $6K For 'What's Up Doc?' Lecture Series

The Timothy & Abigail B. Walker Lecture Fund has renewed their support of Concord Hospital Trust’s popular What's Up Doc? lecture series for two years with a $6,000 contribution.

Offered throughout the year, the What’s Up Doc? Lecture Series offers monthly presentations featuring Concord Hospital medical staff members who speak about disease prevention and risk reduction, medical advances, new technology, and new and innovative medical treatments and services.

“What’s Up Doc? provides critical information on important health topics from Concord Hospital’s dedicated and expert doctors, nurses and medical professionals,” said Kimberlee G. Burgess, Esq.

The lectures are recorded and posted on both YouTube and Facebook and watched by those who choose to join remotely from their home or office. Over the past two years, the What’s Up Doc? Lecture Series has garnered a loyal in-person audience and growing online viewership, and provides a way for community members to learn about timely health information.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed the What’s Up Doc? presentations each month, in-person when possible, or virtually. The information presented by subject matter experts covers new medical treatments in terms anyone can understand. These sessions get me thinking,” said David Salzberg of Hopkinton NH.

Community members can sign up at giveto.concordhospital.org/events/whats-up-doc to join in person for free monthly presentations. Upcoming What’s Up Doc? lectures include:

March 10, 2023: What is Acute Pain and Why Does it Sometimes Become Chronic?, David Nagel, MD of Concord Orthopaedics

April 14, 2023: Skin Cancer, Alexandra Charos, MD, PHD of Concord Dermatology

June 9, 2023: Podiatry Update 2023, William N. McCann, DPM of Affiliates in Podiatry

Concord’s Walker Lecture Series grew from an 1892 bequest of $30,000 in the will of Abigail B. Walker, widow of Timothy Walker. The first programs were presented in 1896, and more than 1,500 free performances, lectures and cultural events have been given since then.
