Concord Man With Meth Attacks Service Dog: Police

Concord police said Christopher Paquette attacked a service dog with a backpack.

CONCORD, NH — A Concord man with methamphetamine was arrested after he attacked a man's service dog with provocation, police said Wednesday. Christopher Paquette, 27, was charged with a host of crimes following the incident Tuesday afternoon on Storrs Street.

Concord police Lieutenant Sean Ford said Paquette approached a man who was waiting for a taxi with his service dog.

"Mr. Paquette, accompanied by another male, approached the victim and struck up a brief conversation," Ford said in a statement. "Without provocation Mr. Paquette became agitated, aggressive, and vulgar toward the victim."

Ford continued, "Mr. Paquette used a back-pack of sorts and aggressively struck the (victim's) service dog. The victim protested and Mr. Paquette pulled out a knife and threatened to harm the victim."

Paquette was charged with animal cruelty, criminal threatening with a deadly weapon and drug possession.

He was held at the Merrimack County House of Corrections pending an arraignment Wednesday in Merrimack County Superior Court.
