Some Concord Pools Will Not Open This Summer Due To Lack Of Certified Lifeguards
The city needs to hire 10 additional certified lifeguards by June 9 to open all pools for the 2025 summer season.

CONCORD, NH — It is crunch time for Concord’s Parks & Recreation Department regarding hiring lifeguards for the city pools.
According to David Gill, the department’s director, at least 10 more certified lifeguards must be hired by June 9 to open all six pools this summer. The department will accept anyone 16 or older who can work at least four full shifts a week.
“In the event we are unable to hire the additional certified lifeguards,” he said, “the department will not be able to open all six neighborhood outdoor pools this summer.”

Gill said the June 9 drop-dead deadline ensures staffers are on payroll and available to complete all required in-service training prior to the start of the season.
