Concord Police Investigating Hit-And-Run Crash After Bicyclist Hit On Loudon Road: Video

A bicyclist sustained injuries after being struck Friday night near Alton Woods Drive; cops are looking for two possible suspect vehicles.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating a hit-and-run crash on Loudon Road on Friday night.

Just before 7:15 p.m., police dispatch began receiving reports about a bicyclist who was hit near Alton Woods Drive. The initial callers were unaware of the rider’s condition. Concord fire and rescue teams were requested while dispatch said the vehicle that struck the bicyclist had left the scene.

EMTs requested a Status 1 trauma alert at Concord Hospital and a second ambulance was requested.

Officers converged on the scene and attempted to close off the road and reroute traffic.

“Shut it down,” one officer said, “bigger than we normally do.”

But the officers had difficulty with commuters as well as residents on side streets, including Woodcrest Heights. One resident was reportedly complaining to police and attempting to direct traffic out of the complex. Later, police moved their cruisers further west to direct traffic away from the road.

One woman stopped to assist the bicyclist, while another witness called the police and provided them with information about the incident, according to scanner chatter.

The road was closed at D’Amante Drive and later, pushed back toward Branch Turnpike on the eastern side of the road.

EMTs immediately rushed the bicyclist to Concord Hospital.

Other officers searched the area for the vehicle. One officer, on Gully Hill, said they had not seen any vehicles with damage. There was a suggestion to put out information via a BOLO (be-on-the-lookout) call for a vehicle with front-end damage.

Later, a detective told officers to look for a vehicle with front passenger side or front bumper damage since the car was traveling west and knocked the bicyclist to the north side of the road.

Firefighters cleared the scene at around 7:45 p.m. while officers searched Loudon Road for potential surveillance cameras.

A BOLO was issued just before 9 p.m. asking other agencies to look for a blue Toyota Highlander or a white Honda Civic with front-end damage or passenger side damage.
