Concord Police Seek Tips After Motorcyclist Crashes Into U.S. Postal Van In The South End

The crash closed down several streets for hours on Wednesday afternoon. A trauma alert was activated at Concord Hospital.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating a motorcycle crash in the South End on Wednesday afternoon and are asking witnesses to come forward.

Concord fire and rescue teams, as well as police, were sent to the intersection of South State and Concord streets for a report of an accident around 3:15 p.m. When EMTs arrived, they immediately requested a trauma alert at Concord Hospital due to the rider’s injuries. Police arrived and began closing off side streets in the area. Other officers also arrived to assist with traffic control.

The motorcyclist could be heard screaming while firefighters were tending to his injuries.

After the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, the evidence technician van was requested. No skid marks were visible in the roadway, indicating the rider drove directly into the back of the postal van. The van had damage on its left side, including a blown-out rear tire.

An officer reported the rider was conscious and alert at the hospital.

South State Street was closed for several hours during the investigation of the crash.

On Thursday, police issued a Concord Regional Crimeline alert asking for anyone with information about the crash to contact Det. Brendan Ryder of the Criminal Investigations Division at 603-225-8600. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crimeline at 603-226-3100.
