Cory Booker In NH Again As Presidential Decision Nears

Cory Booker said he will make a decision on running for president by the end of the holidays.

CONCORD, NH — Cory Booker has yet to decide if he's running for president but he certainly soundly like a candidate for the top office during a swing through New Hampshire over the weekend. The New Jersey Democratic senator made stops in Concord, Nashua, Manchester and Keene. It was his second visit to the Granite State in recent weeks.

On Saturday in Manchester, Booker headlined the New Hampshire Democratic Party's victory celebration for its strong showing in the midterm election last month. Democrats won both congressional seats and flipped the House, Senate and Executive Council.

"The definition of hope isn't that you see some light at the end of the tunnel, or something on the horizon that gives you hope," Booker said during the Manchester party, according to WMUR. “Hope is generated from within."

Booker told WMUR he will made a decision on running for president by the end of the holidays. Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, Beto O'Rourke and Kamala Harris have also been mentioned as possible Democratic candidates.

Booker reportedly attended house parties in Concord, Nashua and Keene to drum up Democratic enthusiasm ahead of the 2020 New Hampshire primary. He veered clear of mentioning President Trump.

Last month, Trump told the New York Post he wasn't concerned about a possible Booker candidacy.

"He ran Newark into the ground," Trump said, referring to Booker's tenure as mayor. "No, he’s not going to be a problem."

Booker has been a vocal critic of Trump. In August, he said the president "demonstrated hateful hypocrisy" for his comments following the deadly white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

During an October visit to the University of New Hampshire, Booker called the midterm elections a "moral moment for America."

New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley said Booker was "incredibly supportive" in helping Granite State Democrats campaign leading up to the midterms.
