Here’s Why Makayla Was Shouted Out As A Concord Star Student
We all know students who excel in academics, fine arts, or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Concord.

CONCORD, NH — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages, at debate lecterns, and in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Jessica Bedard, who nominated Makayla of Concord, New Hampshire.

I’m her mom.
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Makayla is always doing something. Makayla plays the clarinet in the CHS Marching and Concert Bands. She plays the saxophone in the CHS Jazz Band. And she plays the violin in the CHS Orchestra. She’s a 3 season athlete at CHS. Soccer. Basketball. Track. She was recognized by the New Hampshire Basketball Coaches Organization & named to the 2023-2024 NHBCO All-State All Academic Team. She’s a peer student for the CHS Unified Basketball and Track Teams. She volunteers her time in the community whenever she’s needed. You will always find her at Tide Basketball Camps/Programs with Coach LaTorra sharing her love for basketball with the younger kids while helping them develop their basketball skills. This past winter she helped coach her little sister & the rest of The Panthers. (Concord Parks and Rec Girls 3/4 Travel Basketball Team.) She was found helping out with other Concord Parks and Rec Teams when she was asked! She’s a member of Tri-M and the CHS Varsity Club. She was just inducted into the National Honor Society. She also works part-time.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Makayla is an amazing role model to not only her 3 younger siblings, but all the younger kids she comes in contact with who love her!
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Makayla!
