Injured Hiker From Acton, Massachusetts, Assisted Off Icy Black Mountain Trail In New Hampshire
The Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue Team assisted Hillary Reid down a steep, icy trailhead after she slipped and fell on Sunday.

HAVERHILL, NH — A Bay State hiker was helped off a New Hampshire mountain on Sunday afternoon after she slipped on icy rocks and was injured.
Around 1 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game conservation officers were told about an injured hiker on the Chippewa Trail on Black Mountain in Haverhill. The hiker, Hillary Reid, 46, of Acton, was with a partner when she slipped and fell on icy rocks.
“After attempting to continue with her injury, the pair placed a phone call for help,” Conservation Officer Alex Marcoux said.

After speaking with Reid and her partner, officers and volunteers with the Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue Team hiked up the trail with equipment and personnel. Once they reached Reid, they assisted her down “a section of steep, icy, and rough terrain, back to the trailhead,” and she was taken to Cottage Hospital in Woodsville.
Marcoux said the hikers were experienced and well-equipped for the terrain, conditions, and the hike they planned for Sunday.
