Maddi Ryan Performs Around New Hampshire, New England In July, August
One of New England's most significant country acts performed in Concord on Thursday night, in the sweltering heat, to an audience of 1.

CONCORD, NH — Despite temperatures in the low 90s and no customers enjoying the outdoor seating at the 110 Grill on Storrs Street, musician Maddi Ryan was seen (and heard) plucking away at her guitar on Thursday evening.
Ryan, considered an up-and-coming country-tinged singer-songwriter in New England, has been performing around the region for several years, winning numerous awards. I personally never heard of her before yesterday. But, admittedly, I’ve been out of the regional “music scene” for quite a while (shame on me).
I happened to be running errands. While stopped at the light, I turned toward the music and saw Ryan playing. I stopped for a few minutes to listen, and then I interrupted her. We chatted for a bit (she did not seem to mind, strumming while we were talking). I left her a tip, and I went on about my business (I had a lot to do yesterday).

Nearly every musician has had a night like this: Playing to no one. What is the difference between the past and Thursday? How many bands have played to no one in 92-degree temperatures? Yeah, like, almost no bands have done that.
It seemed a bit odd, playing for no one. But it was no fault of her own. It was hot. The fact that I was the lone audience member for a short time did not seem to faze her. But Maddi was a trouper, she kept playing songs like there was a crowd of thousands there. Very impressive.

According to her schedule, she will not return to the capital city for the rest of the summer season. But she plays tonight at Tuscan Village in Salem (as well as July 19 and Aug. 29), the Rooftop at Envio (a great place, BTW) in Portsmouth on July 3 and Aug. 7, The Nash Casino in Nashua on July 11, Bonfire in Manchester on Aug. 9, and Rochester and Conway, too. Do go and check her out.
