More Than 2,000 Unitil Customers Without Power In Downtown Concord
Two transformers on utility poles on School and Warren streets reportedly caught fire and exploded in Downtown Concord on Sunday morning.

CONCORD, NH — Thousands of Unitil customers are without power in Downtown Concord.
Unitil is reporting 2,184 customers in the area of Franklin Street, North Spring Street, Monroe Street, and South Main Street are without power.
According to scanner chatter, Capital Region Fire Dispatch began receiving calls about alarm activations before 8 a.m. At the Kennedy Apartments, at Thompson and South Main streets, a tenant reported being stuck in an elevator on the fifth floor.

Around 8:15 a.m., a transformer fire was reported in the area of the Concord Police Department headquarters. The transformer was located later on School Street. According to police radio traffic, a second transformer reportedly exploded on Warren Street at Federal. There was no active fire, it was just smoking, according to the report.
Just after 8:45 a.m., police reported Unitil had arrived and began working on transformers.

Unitil is reporting restoration to be done sometime before 10:30 a.m.
