CONCORD, NH — During a weekend traffic enforcement initiative by New Hampshire State Police on Interstate 93 in Bow, 23 drivers were stopped, accused of driving more than 90 mph.

Troopers were stationed in Bow on the northbound side of the highway for about three hours while coordinating with troopers in the air. During the initiative, Michal Sventek, a public information officer for state police, said, 34 motor vehicle violations were observed from troopers in the air. Of those, 20 were driving more than 90 mph. Another three, he said, were clocked at 100 mph or faster.

Around 7:15 a.m., state police received a 911 call about “several sports cars” on Interstate 293 north, with drivers traveling “at a high rate of speed,” Sventek said.

“Shortly after the 911 call,” he said, “a trooper in the state police aircraft observed the cars traveling through the Hooksett tolls. As the cars approached the rest area, one of them sped up rapidly, passing several other vehicles. The trooper in the aircraft observed the car, a white 2016 BMW, driving at 134 mph. The trooper continued to observe the vehicle, relaying its location to troopers on the ground.”

A trooper stopped the car in Bow and arrested Robert W. Low, 32, of Webster, MA, on a reckless driving charge. Sventek said he would appear at a court date in the future.

Sventek said the minimum penalty for reckless driving is a $620 fine, with an additional mandatory penalty assessment and a 60-day revocation of a driver’s license. The standard fine for 86 mph or higher is $434.

The enforcement effort was part of the department’s Special Enforcement Unit, which specializes in enforcing traffic laws, promoting highway safety, and reducing crashes on state roadways. Troopers in the unit partner with the New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety during these efforts.
