Nearly 2 Tons Of Food Shared With Those In Need In Concord

Eleven social service agencies, food pantries, and churches received nonperishables from the Capital Region Food Program on Tuesday.

CONCORD, NH — The Capital Region Food Program continued its efforts to help feed hungry people in Concord and surrounding communities.

On Tuesday, 1.8 tons of food items were delivered to 11 organizations. The orgs receiving the food included Christ the King Food Pantry, the Concord Housing Authority, Concord Human Services, the Epsom Food Pantry, the Friends of Forgotten Children, the Open Door Community Church, the Pittsfield Food Pantry, the St Paul’s Church Food Pantry, the Salvation Army, Suncook CAP, and Warner Connects.

The groups received donations as part of the program’s year-round distribution project.

“As part of the distribution effort, non-perishable items such as canned fruit and vegetables, peanut butter, breakfast cereal, pasta, and soups are distributed at no cost to participating partner agencies,” Jennifer Carlton of the program said.

The program purchases and distributes food to organizations in 17 cities and towns. The group secures donations and in-kind services from local businesses and the general public while collaborating with other community distribution and service agencies, she said.
