Newborn Dies After Being Born At Concord Homeless Camp Off Sheep Davis Road Friday
Concord firefighters and police were sent to a homeless camp near Route 106 early Friday morning for the birth of a child who died later.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating the death of a child born in a homeless camp off Route 106 early Friday morning.
Limited information is available at the time of publication, but according to fire and police dispatch and scanner chatter, police and fire and rescue teams were sent to a camp near Route 106 and Loudon Road for a report of a childbirth shortly after 1:30 a.m. En route to the scene, both fire and police dispatchers began receiving reports the baby was not conscious and not breathing. A caller reported the baby was turning blue, according to a police dispatcher, while fire dispatch reported the baby was turning purple and not breathing normally.
Others at the camp were attempting CPR, according to fire dispatch.

When firefighters arrived, the fire commander said they needed an obstetrical kit and a second ambulance was also requested for the mother around 1:45 a.m.
The first arriving officers began running checks on people and vehicles. Around 2 a.m., an officer said the baby was being taken to Concord Hospital. One officer was sent to speak with the mother, while others were requested to provide scene security. Around 2:45 a.m., the watch commander called in more criminal investigation division officers to process the scene. Just before 4 a.m., the state’s medical examiner arrived at the scene. They left the scene around 5:15 a.m.

Concord police were unavailable to comment on the case before publication.
