NH Governor Supports Trump Supreme Court Pick Kavanaugh

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu is one of 32 Republican governors who endorsed Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump's Supreme Court pick.

CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu was one of 32 Republican governors who signed a letter to U.S. Senate leaders endorsing Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court. President Trump earlier this month revealed Kavanaugh was his pick for the nation's highest court. Kavanaugh, 53, is a federal appeals court judge and former aide to President George W. Bush.

The Republicans governors sent their letter of support to U.S. Senators Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer.

"As governors, we stand in support of President Donald Trump’s nomination of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh and encourage the United States Senate to move expeditiously to confirm his appointment as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States," the governors wrote. "His judicial philosophy is straightforward. He believes a judge must be independent and open-minded and must interpret the law as written. As his record shows, he will interpret the Constitution as written, informed by history, tradition, and precedent. Judge Kavanaugh will adjudicate legal disputes with impartiality, preserving the Constitution of the United States and the rule of law."
