NH Schools Ranked In Top 5 In US: Survey

New Hampshire was ranked No. 4 in a nationwide survey of public schools. Massachusetts was ranked No. 1.

CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire schools are among the very best in the country, according to a new survey. The Granite State was ranked No. 4 on WalletHub's 2018 public school rankings by state. Massachusetts was No. 1.

New Hampshire students were especially proficient in reading and ACT test scores, ranking third in the country in both categories.

"The quality of public school systems varies widely from state to state and is often a question of funding," WalletHub wrote. "Some researchers have found that more resources — or taxes paid by residents — typically result in better school-system performance."

All New England states were included in the top 13, with Connecticut at No. 3, Vermont at No. 5 and Maine at No. 13

The survey was based in academics, school funding, safety, class size and teacher credentials, among other factors.
