Police Shoot, Kill Man In Thornton; Investigation Underway
The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, state police are investigating the death of Ethan Freeman Monday.

THORNTON, NH — Police were dispatched to 66 Four Wheel Drive in Thornton around 4 p.m. Monday for a report of a male, in his 30s, in the basement of a house throwing items having what was believed to be some sort of PTSD reaction.
Fire and EMS were dispatched to the area, but were advised to remain away from the scene until the scene was secured. A short time later Fire and EMS were cleared to come to the scene.
Once on the scene the fire department cancelled other responding units stating the person was “Signal 22” indicating the person was deceased.

The New Hampshire Attorney General issued a press release early Monday night advising its office and New Hampshire State Police were responding to the scene of an officer involved shooting in Thornton.
On Tuesday, additional information regarding the officer-involved shooting was released by the attorney general: The man, Ethan Freeman, 37, was shot by a Thornton police officer and died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Earlier today, Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Mitchell Weinberg conducted an autopsy on Mr. Freeman, and determined that the cause of his death was gunshot wounds to the chest.
Mr. Freeman was shot twice. The manner of his death is homicide. As used by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, homicide is defined as the killing of one person by another.
The exact circumstances surrounding this incident remain actively under investigation. No further information will be released until after the involved officer’s formal interview is completed.
No officers or other private citizens were physically injured during the incident. There is no threat to the public.
Pursuant to protocol, the name of the officer involved in the incident is being withheld pending the conclusion of the formal interview.
When the name of the victim was released, Patch reached out to a court official to check on any information available on Freeman. Court summaries indicate a significant history in the summaries, including more than 30 criminal cases, and some restraining orders issued.
