Public Asked to Turn In Unwanted, Old Prescription Drugs

Concord Police announced they would also take part in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Apr. 28.

CONCORD, NH - Joining dozens of police departments around the state, Concord Police announced they would also take part in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Apr. 28. The DEA-led campaign provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths by turning in their old and leftover drugs for destruction.

According to the 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.4 million Americans abused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

Last year's National Take Back Day netted 912,305 lbs. (456 Tons) of prescription drugs, according to the DEA.

Concord Police tweeted on Friday to remind the public that the would be accepting unused and unwanted prescription drugs at 35 Green St., Concord from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

No liquids or needles will be accepted.
