Salem Wins New Hampshire Junior Varsity State Wrestling Tourney; Exeter 3rd, Concord 4th

Timberlane was 2nd; Keene 5th; Pinkerton 6th; Souhegan 7th; Bedford 8th; Milford ties for 9th; Winnacunnet 12th; Nashua North ties for 13th.

PLAISTOW, NH — Hundreds of wrestlers from 26 high schools battled in nearly 500 bouts during the 2025 New Hampshire Junior Varsity State Wrestling Tournament at Timberlane Regional High School on Saturday.

One could have called it a battle of the southeastern New Hampshire powerhouse high schools, Salem and Timberlane. They traded leads early in the competition, but the Blue Devils eventually pulled away with a solid first-place finish.

One change this year was the expansion of the weight brackets from 15 to 21. In 2024, there were dual brackets for the 132, 144, and 150 weight classes. Those weight brackets, along with 138, tend to have the most wrestlers. For this year’s tourney, 123, 135, 142, 147, 153, and 208 weight brackets were added (a 215 bracket is standard for the high school matches and was for the JV tourney in 2024; for the 2023 JV tourney, it was 220).
