Massachusetts Snowmobiler Injures Leg In Campton Crash

New Hampshire Fish & Game says David Carpenter of Woburn suffered a "severe leg injury" when his machine struck a post on Saturday.

CAMPTON, NH — New Hampshire Fish & Game Department was notified of a snowmobile crash Saturday of a snowmobile crash in Campton that injured a Massachusetts man.

The accident occurred near the intersections of snowmobile Primary Trails 152 and 155, according to the department. First responders from Campton, including Thornton Fire Rescue and the Campton Police Department, arrived on the scene and provided initial treatment to the injured rider before transporting him to Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth.

According to an investigation, David Carpenter, 31, of Woburn, MA, was riding with friends when he struck a post and suffered a severe leg injury. A conservation officer arrived at Speare Memorial Hospital to interview Carpenter while the Campton Police Department documented the crash scene.

Fish and Game Officers said they learned that it was Carpenter's first time riding a snowmobile and that his inexperience was the major contributing factor to the crash, according to a report. He was wearing a helmet at the time. Carpenter was transported to Concord Hospital for further treatment.
