Stillborn Birth At Concord Heights Homeless Camp Still Under Investigation, Police Say: Follow-Up

It is unknown if the mom or anyone else will face charges after a boy was born early Friday morning off Loudon Road and Sheep Davis Road.

CONCORD, NH — Police are still investigating the stillborn birth of a child in a homeless camp in East Concord early Friday morning.

Concord fire and rescue teams, as well as police, were sent to a camp located off the intersection of Loudon Road and Sheep Davis Road, not far from the intersection of Interstate 393, at a property intended to be a future gas station, for a report of a childbirth in a homeless camp around 1:30 a.m. While en route, dispatchers from both the police and fire departments reported witnesses saying the baby boy was not conscious or breathing.

The baby was pronounced dead at the scene due to being a stillbirth.

The mother, formerly of the Lakes Region but now located in Concord, who is in her early 20s, was whisked to Concord Hospital to be treated. Police spent several hours at the camp securing the scene and investigating the stillborn birth. The state’s medical examiner was also requested to the scene.

The woman has several prior arrests in Concord and around New Hampshire, including theft and meth possession, and is due in superior court in February for a plea and sentencing to felony drug possession and other charges out of Hudson from April 2024.

Deputy Chief Barrett Moulton of the Concord Police Department said the case was still under investigation, so the department would offer limited comment. He confirmed the baby was a boy and said investigators do not believe he was alive when born. Moulton said investigators were also waiting on toxicology reports and other evidence related to the case.
