During the drives, supporters are encouraged to fill a police cruiser with non-glass, non-perishable food donations. Donations will support local food pantries and shelters, providing food to the hungry. Hunger Action Month is a national effort to have citizens and businesses join forces to take action to fight hunger.
The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, coordinates a series of initiatives throughout September to raise awareness and funds for the estimated 7 percent of Granite Staters, including about 9.5 percent who are children, that struggle with food insecurity.
