CONCORD, NH — Voters in Wards 8 and 9 are almost seeing an identical rematch.

Jonathan Cate is facing off against incumbent Ali Sekou in Ward 8. Both ran for the open seat in 2023 along with Dennis Soucy, who passed away earlier this year. Sekou is finishing out his first term. In Ward 9, Andrew Georgevits and Kris Schultz ran for the open seat two years ago, and now, the two candidates are facing off again. Schultz, who won in 2023, is also seeking a second term.

The candidates answered questions about meeting attendance and busy lives, property taxes, housing and housing tax credits, whether the city should have a sanctioned homeless camp funded by taxpayers and whether they would be advocates to get other communities to help offset Concord’s costs helping the homeless, expanding the tax base, the future of the purple bag tax, and the tenor of council meetings.
