Woman In Mental Distress Rescued By Concord Police From The Merrimack River

Video: Police officers pulled a woman out of the river near the Concord Crew Boat House behind the Everett Arena on Thursday morning.

CONCORD, NH — A woman having a mental episode, who jumped into the Merrimack River, was rescued by Concord police officers on Thursday morning.

Around 2:15 a.m., Concord police dispatch received a call about a woman in distress who was in the river and needing assistance. The woman reportedly jumped into the river behind the Everett Arena at the Concord Crew Boat House. Concord fire and rescue teams, with a boat, were initially dispatched to the end of Grappone Drive at Valley Stream Estates for a water rescue. A few minutes later, they were redirected to the Everett Arena.

When police arrived, they found the woman clinging to the dock near the boat house, unable to get herself out of the water. Officers removed her from the water and took her to the EMTs for evaluation. She was taken by ambulance to Concord Hospital.

Police and firefighters cleared the scene just past 2:30 a.m.
