Alleged Killer's Girlfriend Appears in Court
The Portsmouth woman was arrested in connection with the death of a University of New Hampshire student.
A local woman arrested in connection with the death of University of New Hampshire student Elizabeth 'Lizzi' Marriott is being held on $35,000 bail.
Kathryn McDonough, 19, of McKinley Road in Portsmouth, was arrested on Christmas Eve and charged with helping alleged killer Seth Mazzaglia evade police.
Mazzaglia is charged with strangling Marriott, 19, to death, though her body has not yet been found. There have been several reports that her death occurred during a sexual encounter.

Prosecutors say McDonough was Mazzaglia's girlfriend at the time of the Marriott's death.
McDonough was charged with hindering apprehension and conspiracy, which are both felonies. She was represented in court Wednesday by Exeter-based attorney Ryan Russman, who said her arrest Christmas Eve was an attempt by prosecutors to send a message to her about the seriousness of the charges.

According to investigators, McDonough gave a false alibi about both her and the 30-year-old Mazzaglia's whearabouts on the night of Marriott's disappearance. No detail was given as to the nature of the false alibi.
Marriott, a student at the University of New Hampshire at the time, was last seen on Oct. 9. According to police, she was a marine biology student, completed a class at the Durham campus and said she was on her way to Dover to visit some friends.
Conditions of McDonough's bail include no contact with the Mazzaglia family, a daily curfew, no traveling outside of New Hampshire and refraining from possessing a firearm.
