Hassan: 'With Veneration For Those Who Served'
Gov. Maggie Hassan pays tribute to the fallen, including more than 40 NH servicemen who have died since 9/11.
Gov. Maggie Hassan presided over Memorial Day observances in her hometown of Exeter to offer "veneration for those who have served" and recognition for those who continue to serve state and country.
"There is a cause greater than each and all of us – this country," Hassan said. "Today, right now, the great cause endures."
Hassan said more than 2,500 New Hampshire National Guard members have served overseas in combat or in combat support roles since Sept. 11, 2001. More than 40 service members from New Hampshire have died in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. And, by July, more than 160 members of the New Hampshire National Guard will be serving in Afghanistan.
