NH Man Killed After Next-Door Neighbor Runs Him Over: Police

NH State Police said Catrina Costello ran over Stephen and Erin VanDalinda — her next-door neighbors — in Seabrook.

SEABROOK, NH — A New Hampshire neighborhood dispute turned deadly Wednesday after police said a Seabrook woman intentionally ran over a couple, killing a man and seriously injuring his wife. Catrina Costello, 38, was charged with murder, assault and driving while intoxicated, among other charges. Police said Costello intentionally ran over Stephen and Erin VanDalinda, ages 64 and 61, respectively. Stephen VanDalinda was killed and Erin was seriously wounded, according to New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon MacDonald.

The crash happened in Seabrook on Pine Street at about 6:20 p.m. and officials said it was the result of an ongoing dispute. Costello previously hit the VanDalinda's pet dog with her vehicle and Erin VanDalinda obtained a restraining order against Costello, police said.

"Ms. Costello struck Erin and Stephen VanDalinda with her motor vehicle, causing serious bodily injury to both individuals," MacDonald said in a statement, adding she acted with "extreme indifference to the value of human life" and sped away after the crash.

Costello was charged with second-degree murder, two counts of assault, two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated and two counts of conduct after an accident. She was also charged with three counts of violating a protective order that Erin VanDalinda obtained against her. Police said the order was granted after Costello hit the VanDalinda's dog with her vehicle.

An autopsy was ordered for Stephen VanDalinda; additional charges against Costello are possible.
