Stratham Historical Society Open House

Thursday, Dec. 11th.....5:00 - 7:00 PM

The Stratham Historical Society will hold an Open House on Thursday, December 11, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Location: SHS Building, 158 Portsmouth Avenue, Stratham, NH. Stop by, tour the historic 1912 building. view the museum items and collections. Learn more about what the society does to preserve Stratham's history.

There will be an extraordinary new exhibit donated by John Wingate Seavey that we expect to reveal at the Open House. The display for these rare 18th century artifacts pertaining specifically to Stratham is currently under construction, to be completed for viewing on December 11.

Other new items added to this year's exhibits includes a set of Oyster Tongs made for and used by Dan Crow's father to retrieve oysters from Great Bay and its tributaries.

Back by popular demand will be "the Frying Pan", for which Fryingpan Lane was named and controversially renamed. The frying pan will be on loan for the Open House only, thanks to the generosity of the Law Family who are descended from the 18th century Chase Family of Stratham.

NOTE: If you are in possession of Stratham memorabilia, historical documents, artifacts or more, please bring them in for sharing .... Show and tell! If you can't make the Open House, the society is open to the public each Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM - 11:30AM. You can also contact SHS at info@strathamhistsoc.org, or 603-778-0434.
