HAMPTON, NH — Two people were arrested early morning on Thursday after three vehicles collided on Route 101 West in Hampton. The portion of Route 101 between Exit 12 and the on-ramps was completely closed to traffic for at least two hours as a result of the crash, reported around 1:30 a.m. Goffstown resident Logan Brander, 30, and Sandown resident Corey Laycock, also age 30, were charged with driving while intoxicated.

The accident involved two separate collisions. State police said the initial collision occurred when a driver operating a vehicle erratically collided with another vehicle. Both vehicles were rendered inoperable and came to rest in the travel portion of the roadway. Then, almost immediately after the first impact, a third vehicle collided with the other two vehicles and the roadway on Route 101 became impassable, according to state troopers.

Two of the drivers in the crash, Brander and Laycock, were arrested in connection with the incident after a state police investigation. Brander was charged with DWI, reckless driving and having control of premises where a drug is stored. Laycock is charged with DWI, third offense, according to the state police. Both are scheduled to appear at Hampton District Court for a future arraignment.
