📰 News we're reading

• Tuesday Seacoast Roundup: Exeter boys remain undefeated, more results (seacoastonline.com) — Hampton hoops fans saw Winnacunnet girls fall in their Division I home opener despite 13 points from Kaila Roy, while Hampton Academy’s squad notched a solid win behind Ari Hulbert-Nuzzolo and Pammy Valhouli. The wider Seacoast roundup also tracks strong early-season performances from Exeter, Oyster River, York, Marshwood, and others.

• Ex-Exeter man loses bid to overturn guilty plea in 1997 sex assault (seacoastonline.com) — A long-running Exeter criminal case briefly intersects Hampton through the regional Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which included Hampton officers in the 2016 investigation. A judge has now rejected former Exeter resident William Pothier’s latest attempt to withdraw his 2018 guilty plea in a 1997 misdemeanor sexual assault case, leaving his sex‑offender registration requirement in place.

• Mother of Kensington man killed by police files wrongful death suit (seacoastonline.com) — Hampton is among seven Seacoast communities named in a federal wrongful death lawsuit filed by the mother of a Kensington man shot by police in 2024. The suit challenges officers’ tactics and escalation that night, directly disputing the New Hampshire attorney general’s earlier finding that the shooting was legally justified.
